Welcome! The Salty Rabbit is our family vacation home on Amelia Island in Fernandina Beach, Florida. There's just something magical about the warm, salty air when you cross the bridge and the wild cottontail dune bunnies along the boardwalk to the ocean.

The house is designed to be a calm, easygoing escape - a place to watch the sunrise, slow down, and feel at home. You’ll find quiet spots to unwind or work, a short walk to the beach or pool, and a central location to everything on the island. I’ve stocked the little things, too, like sunscreen, toiletries, and hair dryers, so y’all can pack light.

It’s my personal #HappyPlace, and I rely on everyone who stays to help pay it forward by tidying up, replacing anything you finish, and leaving good vibes for the next guest.

I’m so glad you’re here and can’t wait to share the simple comforts that make this little getaway special.

FAQs

Are you kid-friendly?

Absolutely! We have a Pack ’n Play crib, blackout curtains, a tub for bath time, kid plates/cups/utensils, boosters, stools, and beach toys. Families are welcome - and so are guests looking for a kid-free getaway.

Do you allow pets?

No pets are allowed at this time - we keep the space allergy-friendly for all guests.

Is there good Wi-Fi?

Yes! High-speed Wi-Fi covers the whole condo. We have a Smart TV with Roku (reset for each stay), so bring your own logins for Netflix, Hulu, etc. There’s no cable or satellite TV. A small desk is available if you need to work.

Where do we park?

You’ll have a dedicated spot labeled E-6 right out front. Two parking passes are provided in the fish box by the TV* and must be hung from your rearview mirror to avoid tickets. Visitor parking is available throughout the community. Please note that the property features stairs and is not wheelchair accessible.

*You’ll see exactly what the fish box is when you visit. :)

How do we access the pool & tennis courts?

A key card is provided to unlock the gates  - also found in the fish box. Hours are daylight only and close at sunset or during thunderstorms. No food, glass, or diving is allowed, and there are no lifeguards on duty.

How do we use the beach gear?

Beach and pool gear is stored in the stairwell closet - chairs, wagon, boogie boards, buckets, shovels, umbrellas, etc. Please rinse everything with the community water hoses before storing. Gear must be kept out of sight when not in use and put away before you leave. We temporarily store items by the front door that we are currently using.

Note - no hanging items like towels over the railings, fines apply. We lay them flat to dry.

How close is the beach?

We’re about 1.5 blocks from the sand - an easy 5-minute walk. Public Access 24 is the closest boardwalk. 4WD beach driving and parking are also available nearby if you prefer.

Can we check in early or check out late?

Sometimes! If there’s no same-day turnover, we’ll do our best. Just ask ahead so we can confirm.

Any house rules?

Our basics: no smoking, no parties, and please respect the neighbors and shared spaces. Quiet hours are 9 pm–8 am. Before leaving, empty the fridge, take out trash, and replace anything you used to keep things stocked for the next guests.

Community rules: beach gear must be stored out of sight, parking passes must be visible, and grills are only allowed at the community stations - not at individual units. The pool closes at sunset and during thunderstorms and does not allow food, glass, or diving.

How do we book?

Use the booking section on this site to check dates and send a request. Stays require a 2-night minimum, with 50% due at confirmation. You’ll receive your unique keyless entry code once the balance is paid. Cleaning is a flat $200 per stay. I accept Venmo, PayPal, cash, or check.

How far is the nearest grocery store?

On-island grocery options are currently in flux due to ongoing renovations. Currently, Harris Teeter is the main store on the island (2 mi). For a larger selection, head to Yulee for Publix (12 mi), Walmart Supercenter (12 mi), or Winn-Dixie (11 mi). Delivery services like Instacart also work well.

Be sure to buy drinking water and ice if you are not a fan of Florida’s hard water.

Do you have local recommendations?

Yes! Tell me what you’re into and I’ll send ideas to match - beach days, restaurants, state parks, spa, nightlife, tours…

Can we go to the beach house with you?

Of course - let’s plan it! We can split costs, and I’ll give you a personal tour of my #HappyPlace.
